This was my first cake smash and I have to say it went relatively well. I don't think I was quite prepared for all the mess and there are a couple things I might change for next time like having a couple towels ready to wipe down the little one after we are done. The cake was impossible to remove from its base as you see from the start so maybe it would have been easier to remove had the cake been frozen, or maybe we should have just left it, after a while it didn't matter either way. Lastly, I'm not in love with the shiny part in the backdrop - its not awful and the paper cleanup was amazing, just rip off and throw away. Next time I might try a vinyl backdrop just to get rid of the glare and deal with the clean up.
Highlands Ranch Photographer | Ella Turns One | One Year Old Birthday
Celebrating Ella's first birthday with a cake smash. Its hard to comprehend how fast they grow up just a year previous we were doing Ella's newborn shoot and now she's all giggling, smiling and standing! Such a sweetie she is.

This was a fun (though messy) shoot. She was in such a good mood and was very fascinated with the cake. I was also covered in cake by the time it was over!
