Denver Wedding Photographer | Sneak Peek: Melissa & Clark | Auraria Campus Wedding

Last weekend Melissa & Clark were married on March 24, 2012 on Denver's Auraria Campus.  I had the privilege to photograph this beautiful spring wedding. Yes I said it... it was already spring here in Denver - just for them. The weather was beyond gorgeous, and this time of year here it can be a gamble - we are prone to large snowstorms in March.

Melissa's dress is one the prettiest I've seen lately and different than most! I love the collar, how awesome is that? She picked navy blue and white as her colors and the flowers were the perfect accent with their dark pink daisies.  I could have gone on and on showing their photos but this is supposed to be a sneak peek, which means I have to hold some back =)

The always fabulous Julia with A Touch Of Bliss planned this wedding down to the tiny detail and it really shows!  Sign up here to be notified when the photos are released: http://pictage.com/1110145

Highlands Ranch Family Photographer | Silo Park | Family

This session was part of my fall family mini sessions! This was a 45 minute session and we held it at Silo Park in Greenwood Village, CO.

John Zanini is our mortgage broker, he helped us find a great loan when we first bought our house and helped us to recently refinance it.  He came highly recommended from some good friends and for a good reason, he is great to work with and really takes the time to explain all that mortgage mumbo jumbo.   He's working for Mac 5 Mortgage, so if you decide to give them a call be sure to ask for him: http://www.myhomeloancolorado.com.

We've worked with John over a couple years and finally got to meet his beautiful family! These three girlies are just so precious and you can tell how much fun they have together.

Spring 2012

It's been a while since I've taken on a personal photo project and my husband has been letting me know that we need some new photos up in our house.  I realize that it is hardly spring here in Colorado, but spring is coming and the trees are starting to bud so I wanted to capture that.  I actually set out to take create a full color gallery but since it is barely spring we still don't have too much color so I opted for black and white.  I think it takes on a whole new world of itself, almost a scary one, where some of these "buds" look like claws or snake heads.

For this project I brought a long a piece of black matte board and a tiny clamp so I could turn outdoor photos into something a little more.  Here's the basic setup that I used:

Highlands Ranch Family Photographer | Lair O' The Bear Park | Family

This session was part of my 2011 fall family mini sessions! This was a 45 minute session and we held it at Lair O' The Bear Park in Morrison, CO.

Joy! This family has a lot to celebrate, and they were brave enough to bring their new arrival Brody to an outdoor session up in the foothills for family photos! Mom has a love for photos, and not only is she extremely crafty she writes a super cute blog and photos her kiddos all the time.  I love reading it.

At the end of the session we were all being silly and I caught these two photos.  I love them, they are so much fun.

Sister showed me her pirate face!

Davis is just the sweetest little boy I've ever met and such a cutie too with that head full of platinum blond hair.  This family was fun and easy to work with and I can't wait to see them again next year.

Highlands Ranch Family Photographer | Lair O' The Bear Park | L Family

This session was part of my 2011 fall family mini sessions! This was a 45 minute session and we held it at Lair O' The Bear Park in Morrison, CO.

This family used to live on my street and they had  the opposite address as me so we'd frequently be swapping mail or sending people to the other house.  They've since moved on to a bigger house further up in the neighborhood like most of my neighbors have in the past year or two.  They have 3 beautiful girlies, all of which are super sweet.

This shoot is always a challenge, three little girls, 2 dogs and 2 parents - its just a lot of coordinating and its not usually the parents that are difficult =) but we manage to make it happen every year.  Now this shoot is not a walk in the park, sometimes pretty hilarious at times but I like it and look forward to it every year because life isn't as exciting without a challenge.  I love dogs, and have two of my own that we include in our family photos because they are our furry children and it wouldn't be a full family portrait to leave them out.

Highlands Ranch Family Photographer | DeKoevend Park | Family

This session was part of my 2011 fall family mini sessions! This was a 45 minute session and we held it at DeKoevend Park in Littleton, CO.

This session fell on a very unpredictable Colorado day - warm in the morning and a cold front came in the afternoon.  Their session was scheduled for later in the afternoon and even though it was a mini session we probably only made it 15-20 minutes before we had frozen miss Cara so we rescheduled for another date.  Colorado can be so unpredictable, but you can't beat this gorgeous scenery and the family even wore the same outfits so I don't think you can tell at all!

The second day turned out much better, we had gorgeous weather and happy kiddos makes for a happy photographer!  Miss Cara has the cutest curls ever and big sis, Emma is so sweet to her.
