Family Session | Fly'n B Park | Highlands Ranch, Colorado

This time of year our hearts are cozy and full of being with family.  Spending time with family...shopping...playing board games and card games...being outside together...just being together...slowing down and taking each other in.
It is such a time of connecting.  We love the connection this family had together.  Combine their connection with that beautiful Colorado snow, and our favorite time of year...and we had an awesome photo shoot!  This session was extra special because their oldest son was getting ready to leave the country for two years the following week, so it was an honor to be trusted to take their photos for them before he left!

Our Favorite Local Snowy Photo Session Spots

The snow here in Colorado is absolutely gorgeous, and it really makes for an amazing backdrop for photos!  I just wanted to highlight three of my absolute favorite locations for snowy family photos.

1. Fly'n B Park in Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Fly'n B Park is seriously Highlands Ranch Photographer heaven! At any given time you will likely run into 4-5 other photographers while out shooting here.  I still LOVE it though, and it's big enough to support a lot of photographers at once. There just seems to be infinite great locations, and it doesn't disappoint in the winter. 

2. South Valley Park in Littleton, Colorado [REQUIRES Jefferson County Permit]

Even though this location requires a permit it's worth it and it's easier & cheaper to get than photographing at Red Rocks.  There are two parking lots for the park one on each end of the trail, but I prefer to park alongside the street and hike down to the path.  If that's not an option then parking at the lot that's a bit further west is the way to go unless you want a long hike!

3. Columbine Open Space - Castle Rock, Colorado

Columbine Open Space in Castle Rock has this AMAZING red barn! It is a highly requested location from our clients.  The spot is technically in Castle Rock however is crazy far south of Plum Creek Pkwy.  The easiest way I've found is it head south on I-25 to Tomah Rd then come back North on the service road.  Besides the barn it has evergreens, a little moutainview, a red barn, a rock building, and a neat one lane bridge.  Just one note about this location, its a nature preserve so no dogs allowed.

We shot this session early Halloween morning at Fly'n B Park...

and love how their fun personality totally shines through in their photos!

We wanted to capture Skye at about the same age as had we captured Jaxon in a previous shoot...about the age of 21-22 months to add to their family canvas wall gallery!

Mission accomplished! 

7 Month Session | Twins | Baby Plan | Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Liam and Landon are 7 months old!  And wow they have grown since their newborn photos!  We absolutely adore getting to see them as they change throughout the year!  And at this age they made the perfect little models since they can sit up, but not yet crawl away.  So funny!  All parents can appreciate that!  We will be chasing them at their next session, and we can't wait for those giggles as we do! 

 As I was selecting photos to blog for this session, I kept thinking how many of them would be so great up on a wall!  I love when I come down my stairs and catch a glimpse at our family photos.  I pause so many times just to take in those images and my heart melts as those memories flood back in.

We love when our families get to enjoy their photos on their walls!  It makes us happy to bring the same kind of joy I get as I pause to take in my photos into their homes.  And I am head over heels in love with how bloom frames so perfectly showcase photos!  They are classy, yet fun, and an awesome way to really make your photos stand out in your home.

Do you have a fall bucket list?! 

My list includes indulge in a few Pumpkin Spice Lattes, wear cozy scarves and tall boots, jump in piles of leaves, visit a pumpkin patch, make a pumpkin pie, watch football, devour a caramel apple, and get family photos!  

The timing is perfect for photos!  It's gorgeous outside!  Photos are the perfect excuse to make time for that walk in the park.  And they are perfect for holiday cards and gifts!

It is really beginning to feel like fall!  It's cool and breezy out, the leaves are changing, and there are pumpkins at the store!  Our hearts are so content!

The colors of fall are so happy and vibrant in photos this time of year!  We love it!

Highlands Ranch Photographer | Baby Plan | 6 Month Session | Fly'n B Park

Donovan was such a delight for his 6 month session that we just couldn't resist sharing a few sneak peeks!  This little guy is always so happy for his photos!  Gotta love that!  He just makes us smile!

And we absolutely adore getting to see how much he is growing throughout his baby plan! 

He was just 10 days new for his newborn photos, then pushing up for his 4 month photos, and now sitting up in his 6 month photos!  Wow time flies!

We can't wait to see how much he has grown in his next session!
