San Antonio Bed & Breakfast - Ruckman Haus

My good friend April and I traveled to San Antonio last weekend for a bridal and engagement shoot.  I flew into Houston, picked her up and we headed West! It has been a while since I had been to San Antonio and I was originally looking to book us a hotel on the Riverwalk since that was the one area I was familiar with.  After looking at hotels online and not finding anything great in our price range I decided to look at Bed & Breakfasts.  I scoured the internet reading all the reviews and ended up choosing the Ruckman Haus.  Without having any idea what area of San Antonio it was in, I decided to book it.

What a great choice! I mean, this was an amazing find! Such a gorgeous house and a very warm and welcome place to come relax.  The B&B is in a historic neighborhood in San Antonio and is very quiet.  There are restaurants and shops a couple blocks away. (2-3 minute drive) Prudence and Ron are very welcoming offering you beer and wine all day and providing you with an amazing place to stay with amazing food.

We stayed on the third floor, (the three windows at the very top of the house) and to our surprise it was not hot up there! We had our on AC unit to control and keep us cool, but it seemed like the room just stayed cool on its own.  I took a ton of photos because it was so pretty.  The garden was pristine both in the front and in the back with tons of flowers.  In Colorado, we are just starting to "green up" so I was excited to see all the flowers.

Check out the B&B Here: http://www.ruckmanhaus.com/

We stayed in the Highlands Room, which was up on the third floor.  The rest of the rooms were booked and the Highlands Room has two beds, a twin and a full size.

Here's the bed I slept in.  I never photographed the other one because April was napping when I took these photos and I didn't want to disturb her =)

The amazing bath tub... I could relax and stretch my feet all the way out, with room left!

After our shoot we headed back to the B&B and by the time we stopped and picked up dinner it was late so I decided to do a couple night shots.

The next morning Ron was working hard making everyone breakfast.  I didn't photograph my breakfast the day before because I was so hungry but it was amazing as well.

I'm a bit bummed as I never got a shot of Prudence, she was always busy helping guests.  I caught this photo of Ron when he sat down to talk to guests.

The backyard, looking back towards the house

Such an amazing stay.  I'll have to bring James back and take vacation next time!

Highlands Ranch Family Photographer | Silo Park | Family

This was the first time for me working with this family, and I have to say that they were so much fun! Little Jonathan is the smiliest little boy and I just love his bright blue eyes.  His big sister and brother probably love having him around and I can tell they have lots of fun with him.

This session was part of my fall family mini sessions! This was a 45 minute session and we held it at Silo Park in Greenwood Village, CO.

Jackson, the older brother, is the silliest boy I know and I love photographing him.  When we did his little brother's newborn session we did a mini shoot of just Jackson in his superman bedroom and wearing sunglasses and silly things.  It was fun.

It's been so much fun watching Henry grow up and watching him and Jackson interact, I bet they have so much fun at home.

Denver Wedding Photographer | Sneak Peek: Melissa & Clark | Auraria Campus Wedding

Last weekend Melissa & Clark were married on March 24, 2012 on Denver's Auraria Campus.  I had the privilege to photograph this beautiful spring wedding. Yes I said it... it was already spring here in Denver - just for them. The weather was beyond gorgeous, and this time of year here it can be a gamble - we are prone to large snowstorms in March.

Melissa's dress is one the prettiest I've seen lately and different than most! I love the collar, how awesome is that? She picked navy blue and white as her colors and the flowers were the perfect accent with their dark pink daisies.  I could have gone on and on showing their photos but this is supposed to be a sneak peek, which means I have to hold some back =)

The always fabulous Julia with A Touch Of Bliss planned this wedding down to the tiny detail and it really shows!  Sign up here to be notified when the photos are released: http://pictage.com/1110145

John Zanini is our mortgage broker, he helped us find a great loan when we first bought our house and helped us to recently refinance it.  He came highly recommended from some good friends and for a good reason, he is great to work with and really takes the time to explain all that mortgage mumbo jumbo.   He's working for Mac 5 Mortgage, so if you decide to give them a call be sure to ask for him: http://www.myhomeloancolorado.com.

We've worked with John over a couple years and finally got to meet his beautiful family! These three girlies are just so precious and you can tell how much fun they have together.

Spring 2012

It's been a while since I've taken on a personal photo project and my husband has been letting me know that we need some new photos up in our house.  I realize that it is hardly spring here in Colorado, but spring is coming and the trees are starting to bud so I wanted to capture that.  I actually set out to take create a full color gallery but since it is barely spring we still don't have too much color so I opted for black and white.  I think it takes on a whole new world of itself, almost a scary one, where some of these "buds" look like claws or snake heads.

For this project I brought a long a piece of black matte board and a tiny clamp so I could turn outdoor photos into something a little more.  Here's the basic setup that I used:

This session was part of my 2011 fall family mini sessions! This was a 45 minute session and we held it at Lair O' The Bear Park in Morrison, CO.

Joy! This family has a lot to celebrate, and they were brave enough to bring their new arrival Brody to an outdoor session up in the foothills for family photos! Mom has a love for photos, and not only is she extremely crafty she writes a super cute blog and photos her kiddos all the time.  I love reading it.

At the end of the session we were all being silly and I caught these two photos.  I love them, they are so much fun.

Sister showed me her pirate face!

Davis is just the sweetest little boy I've ever met and such a cutie too with that head full of platinum blond hair.  This family was fun and easy to work with and I can't wait to see them again next year.
